It’s probably safe to say that most of our kids (thankfully) aren’t fully aware of the complications, or even the existence, of hunger or homelessness. When teaching compassion to our kids, it can be challenging to help them understand the trials for many in our world.
St. Thomas More’s Mobile Loaves & Fishes Summer Camp helps accomplish this teaching through an innovative and fun environment. Our own Four Points resident, Shayne Baker, is the Camp Director and speaks to the camp’s mission and techniques through the video below. Take a look -- I found the disabilities simulation to be particularly moving -- and sign up quickly as space is limited and this camp is popular! This program is non-denominational and open to the public.
